Yesterday was mostly spent insulating and trying to black out the isolation tank, which required a lot of running around Anatum’s measuring things and running back and moving black plastic around.
I also did some documentation for Error Collective. My fellow Errorists sometimes have problems with documenting things in a non-blurry way. Here’s a link to the images, I suppose I’ll put them on the Error website soon too.
The other night we used the sauna for the first time; the sauna my friends and collaborators, Error Collective, built here. It’s shown wear and was pretty mild but it was super fun all the same.
Today I met with Lyndsey Lupe (trying on the red wig) to talk and discuss our collaboration on a film for the project.
The film will be called GAG:
“Five minutes of sound and visuals set at conveying an urgency to harness and utilise our freedom of expression.
The aim of the soundtrack is to evoke feelings of frustration when passionate voices are replaced with ambiguous, uncomfortable noises to convey the increasingly overwhelming power of a dystopian society over the individual.
The imagery aims to convey the possibility of being silenced if we are unable to overcome our collective confusion and complacency at the present time.
The aim is to inspire bold expression in the face of current and future censorship, to challenge authority and its increasing grip.
Scene lengths to be synchronised in accordance with the fibonacci sequence, with the soundtrack tuned to 432 hertz.“
Amongst meeting in preparation for the filming process,
and gathering of props,
I’ve decorated the space in a way which aids my personal creativity,
and am experimenting with ways in which to find the key to unlock the gate to creativity.
One of the methods I’m using is trying to paint every day… this is a relatively new thing for me
– I’ve never really been a painter.

It’s about pushing myself within limitations to create something within a realm I don’t necessarily have experience interacting with. Breaking yourself to the point of complete dissipation only to piece it all together again through creativity, an energy and connection to something beyond.
John Cleese’s lecture on creativity raises an important point:
The drawing shows the ultimate goal of the residency, It should be done in a week. I need a chimney pipe and construction foam for insulation…or to find alternatives. Yesterday I was experimenting with a test deprivation tent. I was listing to Isochronic Tones to block out any street noises coming through the fabric. After a bit of time in the darkness I started to see the sound as patterns resembling something like light and at some point I just fell asleep. I will try again later.
Framed matress
Frame layered with sheets to block light and nullify sound.
Getting to some early afternoon metalwork before resuming research and drawing. The gas canister needed to be filled with water before cutting so it wouldn’t explode.
We are happy to have our website running. Here you can find the calendar with current activities, blogposts by our residents, information on upcoming events, and soon – the archive content of the ventures embarked at Anatum’s Abode.

With a background in film (and a particular interest in VHS) and music, Katia has been involved within the industry from an early age of fifteen, through her own accord. She has been involved with platforms across varied media outlets including NME, Vice, Channel 4, The Guardian, to name a few.
During her residency at Anatum’s, she will be exploring the state of today’s society, and a creative’s place within it,experimenting with psychological interaction through the medium of film.
This project will be called 48 HOURS, where 5 films will be filmed over the two weeks and edited within a forty eight hour period, encouraging creativity within such limitations.
This project will be privately screened at Anatums towards the end of January 2015, when her residency comes to an end.
